Gemstones were a traditional element in religious tradition. They were believed to protect the wearer against evil spirits and to confer special powers. They were used as amulets and talismans.

These special crystals have heightened powers during certain times of the year and are called birthstones. Wearing your birthstone during the month you were born is believed to bring you good fortune. If you do not know what your birthstone is, this is a list. Of course some are more expensive than others.
